DETECTIVES INVESTIGATE HOMICIDE ON TURNPIKE ROAD

PORTSMOUTH, VA — On October 27, 2021, at approximately 10:26 p.m., officers responded to the 2800 block of Turnpike Road for a reported stabbing incident. When officers arrived, they located 76-year-old Carol Ann Jackson with a life-threatening stab wound. Jackson was transported to a local hospital, where her wounds proved fatal. One suspect was taken into custody, 24-year-old James Alexander Chapman. Chapman was charged with First Degree Murder and Shoot, Cut or Stab in Commission of a Felony. The investigation is ongoing.
