PORTSMOUTH POLICE CHARGE SUSPECTS FOR MAPLE AVENUE HOMICIDE

40-year-old Antwann Gore is now in custody. He turned himself over to law enforcement Monday evening. He is charged with Four Counts of Aggravated Murder in connection to the Maple Avenue Homicide.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

PORTSMOUTH, VA — On June 7, 2022, at approximately 9:36 a.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Maple Avenue for a reported Gunshot Wound Incident. This incident resulted in the deaths of four people:

  • 30-year-old Georgio Davonta Lee
  • 37-year-old Oleisha Deanna Mears
  • 34-year-old Ashley Merricks
  • 66-year-old Samuel Jones

Detectives have identified two suspects: 40-year-old Antwann Gore and 57-year-old Raymond Gore.

Raymond Gore was apprehended on August 18th in reference to a separate shooting that occurred near the 4100 block of South Street. He has been charged with Four Counts of Aggravated Murder, Four Counts of Use of a Firearm, and Four Counts of Shooting in the Commission of a Felony, for the Maple Avenue Homicide.

Investigators are still searching for Antwann Gore. He is also charged with Four Counts of Aggravated Murder, Four Counts of Use of a Firearm, and Four Counts of Shooting in the Commission of a Felony. At this time, Antwann Gore is considered Armed and Dangerous.
