PORTSMOUTH POLICE INVESTIGATE HOMICIDE ON GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGHWAY

Investigators have apprehended 33-year-old Jamal R. Cannon. He is charged with First Degree Murder for the death of 27-year-old D’Quonn Lee Epps. Cannon is also charged with Malicious Wounding, and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.

Detectives have located Jamal R. Cannon. At this time, he is still considered a Person of Interest.

Detectives are searching for 33-year-old Jamal R. Cannon. He is a Person of Interest in the D’Quonn Lee Epps Homicide Investigation.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:
PORTSMOUTH, VA — On February 1, 2022, around 1:16 a.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of George Washington Highway for a reported gunshot wound incident. Upon arrival, officers located 27-year-old D’Quonn Lee Epps with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Medics immediately began life-saving measures but his wound was fatal. Next of kin has been notified.
A second victim was later located near the 200 block of Paradise Drive. The victim is a 39-year-old male who suffered a serious gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
