On May 9, 2022, police located and apprehended 53-year-old Kary Shoemaker. He is charged with Grand Larceny and Destruction of Property. Detectives are still searching for the two other suspects.

Detectives have recovered the stolen propellers. Now they are searching for 53-year-old Kary Michael Shoemaker. He is charged with Grand Larceny and Destruction of Property. He drives a white Dodge Dakota with possible VA XTZ2317 tags and a racing stripe on the hood.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

PORTSMOUTH, VA — On April 17, 2022, three unknown individuals broke into Crofton Industries, located near Harper Avenue, and stole several large boat propellers, an outboard motor, and an undisclosed amount of loose steal. The suspects were in a 2005–2009 White Dodge Dakota, with an extended cab, and a black racing stripe on the hood.

We urge those with information about the suspects and their truck to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 757–393–8536. Callers can also leave an anonymous tip with the Crime Line at 1–888-LOCK-U-UP or use the Crime Line’s “P3 Tips” app. You can also submit information to the Portsmouth Crime Line Website at www.p3tips.com. Crime Line tipsters are never asked to give their names or required to testify in court. If a crime line caller’s tip leads to an arrest, they may be eligible for the recovery of up to $1000.
