PORTSMOUTH POLICE OFFICERS SAVE AN INDIVIDUAL’S LIFE
PORTSMOUTH, VA — On October 4, 2021, around 2:13 p.m., two of our Portsmouth Police officers (Sgt. Michael Blankenship and Officer Christopher Darden) saw a person struggling in the water near Hospital Point. They immediately entered the water and were able to save a life.
An individual was in the water near the 300 block of Effingham and required assistance. Sgt. Blankenship and Officer Darden, rushed to the individual’s aid, going above and beyond the call of duty to save this person’s life.

“I can’t thank you enough for what you do every day,” Chief Prince said, addressing officers this morning at Line-up. “You are the unsung heroes.”
