PORTSMOUTH POLICE SEARCH FOR SUSPECT, CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS

PORTSMOUTH, VA — On November 17, 2021, just after 11 a.m., The Portsmouth Police Department received information that Alex Tew was near the 1200 block of Airline Boulevard. Units responded to the location and apprehended him without incident. Investigators recovered a stolen vehicle with firearms and other paraphernalia inside.
Tew was wanted for 19 felony charges in the City of Portsmouth and Felony Probation Violation from Chesapeake and Domestic Assault in Suffolk. He has charges for several stolen vehicles, as well as drug and firearms possession.

PORTSMOUTH, VA — Police are searching for 26-year-old Alex Tew. He is wanted for 19 Felony Charges in the City of Portsmouth and Felony Probation Violation in Chesapeake, and Domestic Assault in Suffolk. Tew was charged in Portsmouth for his involvement in a vehicle pursuit and several stolen vehicles. Below is a brief timeline of events:
On 10/24/2021 Officers identified Tew operating a brown SUV that fled into the City of Chesapeake. At the time, he was wanted on several charges from other cities. Charges include Felony probation violation in Chesapeake, as well as Assault and Battery of a Family Member in Suffolk.
On 10/25/2021 Portsmouth Police Detectives identified Alex Tew as a suspect in several stolen motorcycles from the City of Portsmouth.
On 10/26/2021 Officers observed a stolen vehicle pulling a stolen trailer with a stolen motorcycle on it. A traffic stop was attempted and the vehicle fled. A pursuit was initiated. The driver eventually stopped on the 164 Bridge and jumped into the water. The suspect was later seen in the Port Norfolk neighborhood by citizens, media, and officers. He evaded capture.
On 10/30/2021 Police observed Mr. Tew at a residence located within the City of Portsmouth and fled the scene on foot upon seeing police. Further investigation of that scene resulted in an additional 12 felony charges being taken out against him to include Eluding Police, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, four counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Stolen Firearm. Police recovered several items and a firearm.
Tew is known to frequent many of the Hampton Roads cities and should be considered armed and dangerous.
